Limited screen time is associated with the strongest improvement in physical fitness among children, followed by healthy eating, regular physical activity, and sufficient sleep.
In a nationwide cross-sectional study of 60,177 children in China, a higher Health Lifestyle Score (HLS) was significantly associated with better general physical fitness. Among individual lifestyle factors, limited screen time showed the strongest positive correlation (β=1.34; 95% CI, 1.24 to 1.45), followed by healthy eating (β=0.49; 95% CI, 0.39 to 0.59), regular physical activity (β=0.40; 95% CI, 0.34 to 0.46), and sufficient sleep (β=0.12; 95% CI, 0.04 to 0.20).
