Longer objective sleep duration is associated with worse cognitive performance in euthymic bipolar disorder

In 40 euthymic individuals with bipolar disorder, longer assumed sleep duration measured by actigraphy was negatively associated with overall cognitive performance (SCIP total score, β = -0.38, p = 0.011), and longer total sleep time was negatively associated with delayed verbal learning (β = -0.48, p = 0.003). Longer sleep onset latency was linked to worse working memory and processing speed, and more wake after sleep onset was linked to worse verbal fluency.
